Laine Stewart

Art Educator

Website Introduction

Picture

Welcome to my online teaching portfolio! My name is Laine Stewart and I strive to be the best art educator as I can be. On my website, you will find my practicum experiences throughout my college career at Colorado State University. One of the most important lessons I have learned in my education courses is to be reflective because there is always room for improvement and that is what good teachers do. I also want to encourage students to improve and have a growth mindset. In my online portfolio, I have included several lesson plans that I have taught, along with self-reflections. During my fall semester of 2019, I had the privilege to student teach at the high school and elementary school that I attended in Denver. It was such a fulfilling experience being back at my old schools to teach. I have always been drawn to visual art and I discovered my passion for teaching kids during my second semester of freshman year at CSU. Growing up, I had an art basement full of materials that I could be creative with, and I hope to give students the same opportunity to explore the world of art-making.

My pedagogy: My goal is to awaken the creativity that we all possess. We all have innate creative abilities that we need to explore. As an art teacher, I am a facilitator to help assist students with what they want to create. In my classroom, students will create what is meaningful to them. My job is to help my students discover their own creative expression.
